NOT YOUR TYPICAL PORTRAIT STUDIO
Let There Be Light!
Stand Out Shots is the working art and portrait studio in South East London of visual artist and portrait photographer R Barr. Every session is personally directed. Every image is shaped, not produced. This is a space for exploration, adjustment, and visual transformation. Here images are not manufactured. They are uncovered — one frame at a time.
IT STARTS WITH A CLICK…
Different paths,
one way of working.
Across artistic portraits, executive portraits, modelling portfolios, and signature headshots, every session follows the same philosophy: time, attention, and intention, shaped around the work rather than the clock.
BECAUSE OUR TIME IS BRIEF
And only stands still in a picture.
Every session begins with conversation, not cameras. Before a single light is switched on, we take time to understand purpose, intent, and direction, because images made without context rarely last, and clarity at the start is what allows freedom later.
BECAUSE YOU'RE BUSY AND TIME IS BRIEF
And only stands still in a picture.

DON'T STOP ME NOW!
Because I'm having a good time.
We don’t work to schedules or quotas. This is not a production line. It’s a working studio, built for exploration, where ideas are tested, adjusted, discarded, and tried again until something honest begins to appear.
AFTER CLICK
When the session ends, the work begins.
Once the studio is quiet, the images are reviewed, selected, and shaped with care, then presented in a guided online reveal — not as a gallery to scroll through, but as a small, deliberate selection, so decisions are made calmly and with intention.

VARIABLE FEE, SAME QUALITY
Every session is built around one idea: you.
Our fee includes the session itself, studio time, and a minimum of three fully retouched images. Some sessions include hair and makeup as part of the experience. On others, it’s available as an option. Each session is shaped around the person and the reason you’re here. We plan ahead, collaborate on vision, and build the work around what the images need to become. Whatever brings you here, the aim is always the same: something personal, that stands out, and worth keeping. Because standing out is the whole point.
AND SO IT ENDS
But the end is not the end.
Selected images from each session can be finished as a signed fine art print on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm, a paper chosen for permanence and depth, because some work should exist outside screens, as an object that can be kept, handled, and lived with.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, ours is written in bold capital letters. And no apologies!
We believe our work shouts for itself.
Don't be like us...
Put your best face forward!
We have been producing artistic portraits and creative headshots for professionals from a dizzying array of industries, from brands to bands and album covers, power headshots for CEOs to creatives across the performing arts and fashion industry. Our approach is to work closely with each individual to explore the endless sea of possibilities, crafting images that are bold, distinctive, creative and full of character, whatever the purpose of the shot. It may not be who they are, but it’s certainly a vision of what they can be.
Freezing Time Since
Let's Create Something Awesome Together.
Our creative session is more than just a photoshoot, it’s an experience, a moment of your life frozen in time, and a lasting piece of art. Whether it’s to celebrate a milestone — or better still, life — to capture someone in their best light, our creative, bespoke portrait session offers something truly meaningful, timeless, unique, and unforgettable.

FAQ
These additional FAQs address various aspects of our corporate photoshoots,
including lighting setup, logistics and arrangements.
What kind of photography studio is Stand Out Shots?
A portrait studio built around craft, not volume. We specialise in expressive portraiture across four distinct shooting styles, all directed personally, with time, preparation, and finish at the centre of the process.
What types of sessions do you offer?
Stand Out Shots offers four distinct shooting styles — Artistic Portraits, Corporate Headshots, Modelling Portfolios, and Signature Headshots — each built around a different purpose, but all shaped by the same philosophy: time, direction, and intent. Whether the goal is brand, portfolio, or personal work, this is a collaborative process, not a box-ticking exercise.
Is this studio focused more on business or on art?
Both, without compromise. Some clients come for brand and professional identity. Others come for artistic or personal work. The approach is the same: considered, directed, and finished properly.
Who typically works with you?
People who care how they are represented. From founders and leaders to performers, models, and private clients, the common thread is not industry, but taste and intent.
Do you work alone or with a team?
Every session is directed personally. Hair, makeup, and production support are brought in when needed, but the creative direction and final work always come from the same place.
Do you work with all experience levels?
Yes — experience is not a requirement. What matters more is openness to direction and willingness to engage with the process.
How flexible is your style?
The style is consistent. The expression is not. Light, mood, and finish are recognisable, but every session is shaped around the person in front of the camera, not a template.
Do you offer quick, low-cost shoots?
No — and that’s deliberate. The studio is not built for speed or bargain work. It’s built for clients who value direction, craft, and considered results.
Do you only work in the studio?
Primarily, but not exclusively. Most sessions take place in our South London studio, but we also work on location when the project calls for it.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you reasonably can. We limit the number of sessions we take to protect the standard of the work, so availability is finite.
